Walk the Talk – Five Ways Safety Professionals Can Support ESG Initiatives
June 6 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pmFree
Organizations are faced with a growing sense of accountability in the way they operate in the world. The last year has seen an exponential increase in market pressure about environment, social & governance (ESG). Some organizations choose to go above and beyond in their sustainability goals. Others do so because their customers show a preference for companies that protect the planet. Customers are inquiring into ESG requirements for human rights to the carbon footprint. As Safety Professionals, we walk the talk daily, so we’re in a unique position to provide value to organizational management in their pursuit of ESG initiatives.
For many organizations, management is tasked with breaking down silos and facilitating more cross-organizational communication holistically. There is a need for more data collection and analysis, a true digital transformation. Ultimately this progress towards ESG goals must take rapidly changing regulations into account, and organizations need to understand their obligations. Success comes when an ESG program is operationalized, and those ESG targets and commitments are made a reality. It takes empowerment of the employees on the front lines, up to engagement from the C-suite.
Safety professionals have been reporting on environmental health and workplace safety for decades, having extensive knowledge in achieving compliance standards while remaining risk-averse. With the advent of ESG, companies are now motivated to commit beyond compliance on issues that relate to EHS. That trend is offering a great advantage to safety professionals where ESG-EHS overlap. As a result of this unique position, the presenters have developed five keys to help safety professionals support ESG initiatives.
This webinar will:
- Provide an overview of ESG
- Examine how ESG and EHS intersect
- Explain what organizational management is doing to accomplish ESG goals
- Provide the five things that safety professionals can do to reinforce ESG initiatives
