SUMMARY:Food Safety Modernization Act - The Time is Now!
DESCRIPTION:Print PDFPrintThe FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)\, which was signed into law in 2011 will dramatically change the way facilities manufacturing\, handling or packaging food do business.  Many companies have a short 12-18 months to understand and comply with the rules. \n5 of the 7 FSMA rules have already been published!  This means the compliance timeline has started.  Come September 2016\, FDA Inspectors will start knocking on doors to assess a company’s compliance with the regulations.  Are you ready? \nThis workshop will explain the content of the Food Safety Modernization Act and focus on the key requirements of the 5 already proposed rules including: \n\nPreventive controls for human and animal food\nProduce safety rule\nForeign supplier verification program\nAccredited third-party certification\n\nWe will also cover how GFSI certifications such as SQF\, FSSC 22000 and BRC go together with the FSMA rules. \nCompliance Deadlines vary depending upon the size of your business between September 2016 and September 2018. \nThe FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)\, signed into law by President Obama on Jan. 4\, enables FDA to better protect public health by strengthening the food safety system.  It enables FDA to focus more on preventing food safety problems rather than relying primarily on reacting to problems after they occur.  The law also provides FDA with new enforcement authorities designed to achieve higher rates of compliance with prevention- and risk-based food safety standards and to better respond to and contain problems when they do occur.  The law also gives FDA important new tools to hold imported foods to the same standards as domestic foods and directs FDA to build an integrated national food safety system in partnership with state and local authorities. \nClick here for speaker bio.\nRegister \nThis program may be eligible for WEDnet funding. \nPrint PDFPrint
