Through the assistance and partnership of the US EPA, the PA DEP, IMC and PennTAP – the following opportunity is currently open to small industrial businesses within Central and Southwest Pennsylvania.
A Pennsylvania E3 (Energy, Environment and Economy) pilot program is seeking 3 small industrial businesses within Central Pennsylvania to participate in a grant supported project to define and implement strategies designed to improve energy, environmental and economic efficiencies. Called the E3 Pennsylvania Pilot, this project aims to increase the adoption of E3 practices by conducting a comprehensive set of activities.
Experts in lean, environmental and energy practices will visit and perform free E3 audits that will identify strategies and implementation suggestions for better efficiencies in pollution prevention and energy usage within the selected organization. After the audits, these manufacturers will be encouraged and assisted by IMC with the implementation of cost-saving, energy efficient and environmentally friendly solutions. Implementation projects/solutions identified in the audits will also be submitted for review for possible external grant funding to help with the client’s implementation costs.
Project selection is underway and preference will be given to organizations that are current customers in the West Penn Power electric service territory (http://www.wppsef.org/serviceregion.html) and/or whose business product is involved in the supply-chain to the alternative energy business.
