Association of Manufacturing Excellence is sponsoring a one day workshop on Toyota Kata January 17th in Aston, PA at Engineered Arresting Systems Corp.
After a brief company introduction and tour there will be an introductory workshop on ‘Toyota Kata’ based on the book by Mike Rother. Kata means ‘routine’. The book defines two distinct but interrelated routines. First is the Improvement Kata (IK) that is about creating a pattern of habits that develop a mastery of continuous improvement. The second is the Coaching Kata (CK) that defines a technique that any leader can use to guide team members through the Improvement Kata. Both routines are founded on the principle of ‘target condition’ thinking that is critical to effective improvement. Together they operationalize daily improvement in a simple, easy to follow methodology that any leader can put into immediate practice.
This introduction is based on the highly successful three-day on-site application oriented program offered by the University of Michigan. And for AME members only, UM is offering a significant discount for this event. In-class exercises will enhance the learning experience.
